From Debate Darling to Million Dollar Advocate.
There are few things in life Shannon Altamura enjoys more than a great debate. Once a high school debate star from central Texas, Shannon worked her way through college on a debate scholarship at Trinity University, where she was named 3rd speaker in the nation by the American Debate Association in 2003 and graduated with honors in 2006, before attending George Mason University School of Law. For Shannon, a career in litigation was the natural destination after her academic background in research and argumentation.
Today, you will be hard-pressed to find an attorney as well-researched and enthusiastically prepared to argue your case. Shannon masters the legal complexities of each case by going into “debate-mode” and playing devil’s advocate in her preparation for each and every possible weakness or trap the other side may present. She is also a skilled storyteller, never losing sight of the big picture or her client’s best interest. Shannon’s impressive advocacy skills have earned her national acclaim, including a life-time membership in the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, of which fewer than 1% of U.S. attorneys are members.* In 2019, Shannon successfully negotiated a $2 million settlement against an international corporation, on behalf of her injured Randolph County client. In the same year, she obtained a $5.25 million settlement against an insurance company on behalf of a Randolph County family. In 2020, Shannon's legal team obtained a $2.5 million dollar personal injury settlement regarding a workplace fall.** In her decade of practice, Shannon has also also obtained many six-figure awards for her injured clients in matters including nursing home neglect, car accidents, dog attacks, trip and fall injuries, sexual assault, and premises defects.
In addition to her injury law practice, Shannon also excels at resolving complex civil litigation matters including property and estate disputes, and has obtained many impressive results for her civil litigation clients in these areas.
Shannon Altamura has been named a "Rising Star" by North Carolina Super Lawyers, and was also recognized by her peers for inclusion in the 2021 edition of Business North Carolina's "Legal Elite."
Although she loves a great argument, clients will find Shannon exceptionally patient and understanding. Shannon quickly puts her clients at ease with her calm demeanor and the assurance that they can leave all the debating to her!
*Membership in the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum is limited to attorneys who have acted as principal counsel in at least one case which has resulted in a multi-million dollar verdict, award or settlement.
